Overview

Imagine a laptop transforming into a music studio. A Music Window helps readers aged nine and older discover this by letting them create their own music. Starting with a tap, hum or everyday sound, readers learn about sound travel, computer recording and manipulation, and how a digital studio brings ideas to life.

Over fifteen illustrated chapters, the main book introduces beats, melody, chords, bass, instruments, synthesis, recording, arrangement, effects, mixing, finishing and field recording. Each topic connects explanations to listening tasks or practical activities, encouraging readers to experience the results and make choices rather than simply memorising terms.

The companion book is designed to accompany the main book. It includes First Steps in Reason, fifty guided exercises, a music glossary, notes and symbols, screen-number explanations, commonly confused terms and a dedicated guide for parents carers teachers and music leaders.

Together, the two volumes offer a structured yet flexible learning experience. Readers can read, experiment, listen, revise and save their work. This set caters to beginners with basic equipment while allowing for curiosity, experimentation and personal musical preferences.
